2026 Washtenaw Community Builder Awards

The Cunningham-Limp Washtenaw County Community Builder Award recognizes leaders in the Ann Arbor region who have built, enhanced, or thoughtfully reimagined spaces that strengthen the community. In recognition of the award winner, the 2026 recipient will select a Washtenaw County-based nonprofit to receive a $2,500 contribution. Finalists will be celebrated on September 25 at the a2Tech360 FastTrack Awards hosted by Ann Arbor SPARK.

Any individual may nominate a candidate, including themselves, for this award. Self-nominations can proceed directly to the application process while nominees will be contacted with the application criteria and next steps.

Deadline is 11:59 PM on August 21, 2026.

Application Criteria

Nominees should articulate, in up to 300 words, the impactful role they had on the community through a built environment. The nominee must also present a supporting endorsement from a local leader/executive who can speak to the impact of the individual/organization’s nomination. Judges will consider the story behind this organization or individual.

The application process adheres to the following guiding principles:

  • The nominee must have had an impactful role on the community through a built environment.
  • The nominee must be a single individual (can be representative of an organization).
  • The nominee’s contributions must be located within the Washtenaw County, and are not limited to any one industry or sector, public or private.
  • Nominations will open on July 20, 2026, and must be submitted by 11:59 PM on August 21, 2026.
  • An impartial panel made up of community leaders will select the award recipient and finalists.

The five finalists or their representative must be present at the a2Tech360 FastTrack Awards hosted by Ann Arbor SPARK Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Vanguard Hotel, where the award winner will be announced. We will notify finalists via email on or before September 4, 2026. Finalists will receive two complimentary tickets for the event.

Evaluation Process

All incoming nominations will be presented to a panel of judges with a straightforward scoring rubric. Emphasis will be placed on how the nomination utilizes both qualitative and quantitative evidence to illustrate how the nominees align with the award criteria and provide tangible and impressive outcomes, serving as a potential blueprint for others.
